Welcome to my EDVENTURE! Engineering, math and science are my passion, as I am an engineer turned educator. I obtained both my Bachelors and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy. I then acquired my Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. It is my hope to utilize my real-world applications of math, through engineering, to help my students gain a better understanding of the subject.
Working with kids was also a part of my life as an engineer, as I have been coaching soccer for the past 10 years. As a teacher, I am able to combine my enthusiasm for both math and kids... and hopefully my classroom illustrates this. I incorporate teamwork and group challenges into my lessons as much as possible to instill in the kids the importance of communication, collaboration, and creativity.
I am married to my wife Jessica, a fellow engineer from undergrad and we have a daughter named Leona. We enjoy all the fun that comes along with living on a lake in Ortonville, spending time with family and sports. Besides soccer, I enjoy wakeboarding, playing hockey and golf as well!
