Welcome to Oxford High School Orchestras-Having taught orchestra teacher since 1990 I have had the pleasure of developing programs in three former school districts. I hold a Certificate of Orchestral Studies with an emphasis in conducting from Wayne State University, my Master of Music degree in Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and my Bachelor of Music degree in Education and Violin Performance from Wayne State University.

In addition to my responsibilities here in Oxford, I am also a professional violinist serving as Associate Concertmaster of the Flint Symphony and am the Concertmaster of The Bijou Orchestra, a touring 13-member salon orchestra. Closer to home, I am locally engaged as Concertmaster of the Macomb Symphony Orchestra.
One of my passions as a violinist is chamber music. I belong to the group Classic Impressions formed from principals of the Flint Symphony Orchestra as well as the Ivybrooke Strings. With the latter ensemble, I have recorded the piano trios of Haydn and Mendelssohn. Other recording projects have included a musical portrayal on CD and DVD based on the book Einstein’s Dreams with the Bijou Orchestra. Previous projects over the last 20 years have ranged from recording radio and TV jingles, studio session work and various orchestral sessions.
Coinciding with performing, I am Adjunct Professor of String Pedagogy at Oakland University. Also housed at the university, I work with the Oakland Youth Orchestras where I am Senior Director and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra. The OYO has exploded in its membership in the nineteen years since I have been involved starting with one orchestra of 65 members to the four orchestra system representing 350 students today.

In conjunction to my involvement with students, I have been an active professional symphony conductor in metro-Detroit. I have served as Music Director and Conductor of both the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra and Symphony of the Lakes. This year I have been appointed to the post of Music Director and Conductor of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.

Outside of my music endeavors, I enjoy biking, traveling, and camping with my wife Karin at every available opprotunity.
